Johnson City Library card holders have access not only to our ever growing collection, but also our eLibrary with Libby by OverDrive and Simply E.

Meet Libby - the app for eBooks and audiobooks

Get Libby

  1. Download the Libby app from the Apple or Google Play store
  2. Open the app and follow the prompts from Libby to access your account
  3. Search for Johnson City Library (Central Texas Digital Consortium) and Click it.
  4. Sign up with your Johnson City library card number and phone number that you provided when signing up for your library card.
  5. Now you can browse the collection! Use the search bar at the top of the screen to find what you are looking for or browse the selection on the home screen.
  6.  You can change your preferences by clicking the + sign next to “Preferences”, so that you can have your home page feed match your interests.
    • "Format" will help you narrow your results to eBooks or audiobooks
    • "Audience" will allow you to find books according to maturity level
    • "Availability" will get you books that are ready for check out immediately, or you can browse everything to find books to put on hold.
    • Preferences are applied every time you explore so make sure to update them if you want something different.    
  7. Click the + or "Borrow" to check out. Your checked out items will now be available through the “Shelf” tab on the bottom right of the screen
  8. Now you are ready to read or listen and Enjoy!

Get Simply E

  1. Download the SimplyE app from the Apple or Google Play store, and open the app
  2. Select “Find your library” and scroll down to Johnson City Library, and select it.
  3. Once you are in the collection, you can search for ebooks or audiobooks.
  4. When you select a book, you will get two options, “Get” or “Reserve”
  • “Get” means that book will be available to you right away.
  • “Reserve” means that there is a wait on that book. You must reserve the book to save your place in line, and you will be notified when the book is available to you.
  1. The first time you select a book, you must type in your library barcode number and PIN. The Barcode/User name is your Johnson City Library Card number, and your PIN is your phone number that you provided when signing up for your library card.
  2. The selected book/audiobook will then begin to download, and is ready for you to access under the “My Books” tab on the bottom of the screen. Now you are ready to Read or Listen and enjoy!
